I am retired and in my 70s - this blog is my hobby. I am learning about the brain and sharing what I learn with anyone who is interested.
The reason for my fascination with neuro-science is that I am left-handed and dyslexic. When I was young, dyslexia was unknown to my teachers and family. All they knew was that I was not dumb or lazy but I had great difficulty reading and writing. In my teens, I went to the library and found nothing to explain handedness or difficulties with written language. So I have been following scientific news about the brain for about 50 years. For a long time, most everything I read sounded like rubbish. That started to change a decade or so ago. Now most of the research is very persuasive.
My education and employment has been in biology, computer science and management. I have conquered my dyslexia with the help of one teacher and my husband but it took a long time.
I have a more personal site http://janetsplace.charbonniers.org/
Yes, the human brain - consciousness - paying attention - processing information - working memory - etc. is most interesting.
About Sustained Attention vs Inattention
http://tbisurvivorsnetwork.ning.com/forum/topics/sustained-attention-vs-inattention
I am right handed, born with Inattentive ADHD including Central Auditory Processing Disorder. I respond to several FDA approved medicines (Tirend, NoDoz, and Bonine). Tirend (contains caffeine - 100 mg/14 other ingredients) allows me to use my left hand better along the lines of playing the piano together with both hands a little more accurately (sensory integration) for a period of four plus hours.

Thank you.
This is really interesting, You’re a very skilled blogger.
I have joined your feed and look forward to
seeking more of your great post. Also, I have shared your web site in my social
networks!
You are so interesting! I don’t believe I’ve
truly read a single thing like that before. So wonderful to
discover somebody with a few genuine thoughts on this
topic. Really.. thanks for starting this up. This website is one thing that is required on the internet, someone with a bit
of originality!
You actually make it seem really easy with your presentation however I to find this topic
to be actually one thing which I feel I might by no means understand.
It seems too complicated and very huge for me. I’m looking forward on your subsequent put up, I will attempt to get the dangle
of it!
Thank you
Janet, I am a long lost cousin who met you in Belle Plain, Saskatchewan a few years ago, at a family reunion.
I have recently been contacted by yet another long lost cousin who happens to be a bit of a rocket scientist. I am interested in finding your family blog, photos and lineage to pass on to him.
I will email you and we can exchange info. Nice to hear from you.
